As winter fast approaches our collective memory goes back to the balmy summer breaks on the flower-filled sun-trap that was the NILE terrace. Walking through the corridors of NILE you could witness the full spectrum of learning, from serious discussion of ELT hot topics to puppet making and silly songs about pooping mangoes! One thing was true of every room, the buzzing of teachers' brains being stimulated with new and exciting knowledge to implement into their own teaching.

What were the best bits of your summer course at NILE? For us, we remember:

  • The cultural exchange with teachers hailing from all 4 corners of the globe - the furthest coming from Chile, Japan, Uzbekistan and Dominican Republic!
  • Insightful visits to local primary and secondary schools
  • Engaging Wednesday Workshops which gave teachers the opportunity to "dip their toes" into an ELT topic different from their NILE course
  • Bake sales in aid of INTO Giving (yum!)
  • Sing-along piano sessions at break time at INTO!
  • Hilarious pub quizzes with NILE Deputy Director Mike Riley as Quiz Master
  • Inspiring talks with Matt Willer of the Papillon Project charity
  • Swinging our partners round and round at Ceilidh ("kay-lee") dances
  • Picturesque farewell cream teas in the Roman Catholic Cathedral gardens

Thanks to all our course participants for making the NILE summer the professionally stimulating - and fun - experience that it is.

We look forward to welcoming you in 2024!
