NILE and University of Chichester are proud to announce that the 2021 recipient of the Erica Dirou Scholarship is Nermine Kotb. The award committee was impressed by the commitment to her own professional development that came through in Nermine’s application, as well as her determination to contribute to improving the quality of English Language Teaching in Egypt.
On receiving news of the award, Nermine told us:
"I am sincerely honoured and deeply grateful to have received the Erica Dirou Scholarship. This award grants me the opportunity to pursue an MA degree that will definitely make a significant impact on my future.
Having worked with Erica at BC Egypt, I always remember her for the unwavering support she offered. I already owe her every professional development milestone in my career so far, and yet one more. She shall remain my idol and role model. I pledge too that I will work very hard on my studies to make her and my late parents proud.
Thanks again Nile for your generous support towards my higher education. I promise to give back to the teaching community in Egypt.”
This year there has been a very high number and standard of applications for the scholarship, which is awarded by NILE and the University of Chichester each calendar year to an English Language Teacher or Teacher Trainer working in Egypt, in memory of our outstanding alumna Erica Dirou (pictured above, private photo).
