Start your teaching journey. Take your first step into English language teaching - travel the world or teach online from anywhere in the world. The CELTA course provides practical, initial training in teaching English as a foreign language. The mixed-mode CELTA course is full time and takes place at NILE in Norwich for 2 weeks, followed by 3 weeks online. At the NILE course centre you will teach learners from different parts of the world who are based in Norwich, work with a group of colleagues, and have full access to all NILE's resources. For the weeks you study online, your training, or input sessions, will be live on a videoconferencing platform such as Zoom. You will do your teaching practice as live sessions, with your tutor observing you, and with learners who can be attending online from anywhere the world. The mixed-mode CELTA equips you with experience in teaching both in the physical classroom and remotely.

Further InformationCandidates are assessed continuously during the course and there is no final examination. An external assessor, appointed by Cambridge English, moderates each course. Completion of the course does not guarantee the award of the Certificate. There are two components of assessment: teaching practice and written assignments. To be awarded the certificate candidates must pass both components. There are three grades: Pass, Pass B and Pass A. Application process:When we receive your application form - attached to the course dates below - we will contact you for your CV and completion of an Application Task which focuses on previous language teaching/learning experience, language analysis (please see example question below) and reasons for taking CELTA. Once you send us that, we arrange an interview either face to face or via Zoom.
