Valéria FrançaNILE Consultant Trainer
Valéria has worked in the field of ELT and education since 1992. She is an English language teacher, teacher trainer and currently the Head of Learning & Development at Edify Education, with a focus on bilingual education. She previously was the Head of L&D for Cultura Inglesa S.A. for over 12 years.
She has worked as a CELTA and DELTA Tutor and has most recently also been a Consultant Trainer for the Teaching Young Learners module on the NILE MAPDLE programme.
Valeria’s qualifications include a BEd (Hons) (University of Cambridge), MA in Comparative Education (IOE – University College London), MA in Applied Linguistics (UFF, Rio de Janeiro) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (UFF, Rio de Janeiro). Her research interests include mediated practices of learning, socio-cultural theory, young learners and language learning processes. She is currently also interested in Generative AI and education.
She has been an active member of BRAZ-TESOL, having been a past President and currently a permanent Advisory Council Board member.
In her free time Valéria enjoys reading, doing sports and she is passionate about immersive theatre and immersive learning experiences, having taken a number of workshops with Punchdrunk Enrichment (transformational theatre charity).
